Project Description

…Pregnancy Center ministry allows us to introduce them to the Savior who will meet their deepest spiritual needs, as we minister to their earthly needs.

~ Melissa Heiland, President

How it all started . . .

In November 2017, Hope Ministries Uganda partnered with Melissa Heiland and Beautiful Feet International to plant and establish the Masiiko Pregnancy Care Center among the Batwa tribe. Our Masiiko Pregnancy Care Centers are operated by Barbara Tugume. There are currently 5 centers located in Mukungu, Nayanamo, Rubuguri, Kasovu, and Kabale.

We need your support to help our Masiiko Pregnancy Care Centers to operate. It takes approximately $1400 a month to run our monthly meetings for our five centers. This provides each of the women with soap, vaseline, food (posho and beans), clothes for the children, pre natal vitamins, clothes for the unborn babies, a center meeting lunch, and transport.

Hope for the Future

“The pregnancy care centers have helped us a lot in many ways and in different sectors leaving our lives changed to the glory of God. We are so grateful for the support to operate the Masiiko Pregnancy Care Center and making women know their worth in Christ,” Barbara Tugume.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

Our Impact

Reports from Barbara about how the Pregnancy Care Centers have impacted lives:

  • Breastfeeding mothers and their children have received clothes to improve their health and smartness (the way they look) of the children.
  • All of the women receive bars of soap to help them improve their hygiene and to clean their clothes.
  • All the women, in general, are taught how to improve their personal hygiene and that of their children to reduce some diseases.

Empowering Mothers

  • Women are taught how to depend on God as their provider and to always read the word of God for they now know that with God all things are possible.
  • The women are taught how to teach their children good manners which will help both the parent and the children at large.
  • The women are encouraged how they should help each other in both the good times and the bad times and to love each other as Christ first loved them.
  • The women who are pregnant and those breastfeeding are given prenatal vitamins to help their health.
  • The death rate for pregnant women has reduced the diseases brought by poor hygiene.
  • Children dying at a young age has greatly reduced.
